A member of the cabbage family, the Swede is also known as yellow turnip, Swedish turnip and Russian turnip or, in America, the Rutabaga. Swede has a round shape, purple-green skin, and yellowy-orange flesh that contains a sweet, earthy flavor. It disintegrates fairly easily if overcooked, so always keep to cooking times!
