Beetroot is a root vegetable with an earthy, rich and sweet flavour. Its vibrant deep red and purple color lends itself to a variety of both sweet and savoury dishes. Beetroot is a close relative of spinach and chard and is also reckoned to be a great detoxifier. Whether roasted, boiled, or steamed, beets make fantastic salads and sides. Their sweetness makes them a natural partner to tangy seasonings such as mustard, lemon juice, or vinegar.

Health Benefits

  • Lowers Blood Pressure: A study found that drinking a glass of beet juice lowered systolic blood pressure by an average of 4-5 points, stemming from their naturally occurring nitrates, which helps to relax and dilate your blood vessels, improving blood flow and lowering blood pressure!
  • Boosts Stamina: Drinking beet juice prior to exercise allowed a study's participants to exercise for up to 16% longer! The benefit is thought to also be related to the reduction of oxygen cost of low-intensity exercise as well as to enhance tolerance to high-intensity exercise
  • Detox Benefits: The betalin pigments in beets support your body's Phase 2 detoxification process, which help them to be flushed out from your body, helping to purify your blood and your liver!
