Butternut Squash (also known as the butternut pumpkin) is the sweetest type of winter squash. Though technically a fruit, it is most often used as a vegetable, and has a sweet, nutty taste (similar to that of a pumpkin), with yellow skin and a fleshy bright orange pulp.

Its versatility makes it a favorite in the kitchen, being able to turn a dull salad into stunner, and lending a vegetarian creaminess to dishes like risotto and ravioli!
